Briiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
You wake up to the irritating sound of your alarm.
You continue to lay in your bed despite this but at some point, the ringing drives you crazy so you slug your alarm clock across the room and immediately proceed to go back to sleep.
An hour later
You actually wake up this time.
You draw open the curtains, the sun blinding your eyes as you wipe them clean of gunk.
After noticing that you have woken up at an ungodly hour, you decide to get ready for work.
Upon exiting the door, however, you step on something soft.
It's a warm slice of bread.
“That’s odd,” you think as you look up and notice a trail of bread leading to your bakery.
You follow along the path of bread to your workplace.
After arriving, the trail doesn’t seem to end. It extends out farther into the distance, past the bakery.
Puzzled, you continue to follow the trail of bread to a small, quiet park where you see someone sitting at a bench feeding bread to the ducks near the pond.
Upon closer inspection, it’s the man from yesterday.
You don’t know how to feel.
It's as if million questions racing through your mind.
After awkwardly staring for a few seconds, you finally ask, “Hey, uh… What’s with all the bread-”
“Ah! Sorry about yesterday,” he says, “I was quite busy yesterday after all..”
He then went back to feeding the ducks.
You end up staring at him for another good two minutes before he offers you a seat beside him.
“Peaceful, isn’t it?” He says, tearing a small chunk of bread and throwing it to the ground. “You’d think it would be busier here on a day like this.”
“Yeah…” You watch the birds fight over the piece of bread, “Are you… new here?”
“What do you mean? I’ve been here for quite a long time I think…” He says looking up.
“Why?”
“Nothing” You look at your watch and see that it’s already 5 pm.
You have to go to work.
Well so be it.
